Media: Dog not gone protection for people and pets
MAY 26, 2020. Skowhegan, ME—U.S. Senator Susan Collins visited Maine Stitching Specialties today to thank the employees for the work they are doing to make protective face masks. Bill and Julie Swain, the owners of Maine Stitching Specialties, received a Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) forgivable loan, which has provided them with crucial support during the COVID-19
pandemic. The PPP was co-authored by Senator Collins.
“The hardworking men and women at Maine Stitching Specialties hold themselves to a high standard of craftsmanship, producing an array of high-quality textile goods,” said Senator Collins. “Seeing the need for protective face masks amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Mainers at this Skowhegan factory rose to the challenge and began producing face masks for their community. Their continued commitment to excellence and service is truly inspiring. I am delighted that the Paycheck Protection Program is helping this wonderful Maine small business to continue its operations and pay its employees.”
The Skowhegan factory has been in business for more than 30 years, operating as Maine Stitching Specialties since 2014. The factory produces flags, accessories, and health care and hospitality textile goods. Maine Stitching Specialties is also producing and shipping the state’s official bicentennial flag.
brand facts & Story
Dog Not Gone began in 2006 when the Buyer for the Hunting Department at L.L. Bean saw our custom made dog vest on his friends dog when out hunting in the woods of Maine. Since then, we have sold our signature Safety Dog Vest to thousands of dog owners around the world.
What sets our products apart is really quite simple – superior design, top quality components, and highly skilled American manufacturing. Our products are made with pride in Maine by Stitchers who have been with us since the beginning.
In 2015, Dog Not Gone started making products with No Fly Zone fabric. This fabric is permanently treated with permethrin and is effective in repelling ticks and biting insects up to 70 washings. Our customers were so delighted with this new function in the Safety Dog Vest that they asked for product to keep them safe when walking the dog or just enjoying the outdoors. As a result, No Fly Designs was created to market apparel designed for people.
Our product line has expanded to include tick repelling apparel for the whole family. All our products are designed as “outer” wear with the intent of being worn with your everyday clothing and created with input from our customers.
The mission of Dog Not Gone is to keep you and your family Seen and Safe and continue to enjoy spending time in the outdoors.
